Why Juice for Heart Health?
Juice is an excellent delivery system that concentrates vital nutrients in an easy-to-absorb package. Imagine consuming vast quantities of fresh produce every day, especially raw, in the amounts needed to target specific conditions like heart disease. It’s a tall order!
But juicing that same mound of fresh produce reduces it to often a glass or two, getting all the vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients you want. Having those nutrients in juice also makes them easier for your body to absorb, upping the intake and effectiveness.

Vitamins and Minerals for Heart Health
In this juice, I use three fruits, vegetables, and herbs that are known to contain vitamins and minerals for heart health: Pears, Celery, and Parsley. Together, they make a powerful juice that also tastes delicious!

There are two primary compounds found in pears that may lower your risk of heart disease. The first is found in the peel and is called quercetin. This antioxidant decreases inflammation and is thought to reduce contributors to heart disease like high cholesterol and blood pressure levels (1).
The other is procyanidin, a polyphenol abundant in pears that may decrease heart tissue stiffness, increase good cholesterol (HDL), and lower the bad LDL type (2, 3).

Celery is also high in antioxidants in the form of phytonutrients that can help reduce oxidative stress, reducing inflammation, which may help reduce the risk of heart disease (4). It’s also high in vitamin K, which may also lower heart disease risk through its potential ability to reduce cardiovascular calcification (5).

The vitamin B folate found in parsley is believed to benefit heart health by lowering levels of homocysteine, an amino acid whose high levels are shown to alter the structure and function of our arteries (6). Parsley also contains a moderate amount of calcium, which is important in regulating blood pressure (7).

- Yield: 32 fl oz 1x
Description
Show your heart some serious love with this delicious juice to help keep it pumping!
Ingredients
- 4 Pears
- 6 Celery Stalks
- 1 Bundle of Parsley
Instructions
- Rinse the pears and remove the stem.
- Scrub the celery stalks.
- Rinse and pat dry the parsley.
- Run all ingredients through your juicer and enjoy!!!
Notes
When it comes to juicing leafy greens and herbs like parsley, I do my best to dry up the excess water after rinsing off any loose soil from the leaves. Why? I don’t want to dilute my juice with that extra water. Leaving it isn’t a deal-breaker, I just prefer the flavor of the full-strength juice.
