Anemia, the lack of healthy red blood cells (also known as hemoglobin), is said to be the most common blood disorder. Without enough of those key cells, not enough oxygen reaches our tissues and organs. Iron deficiency is the most common cause. A great way to combat this is by juicing for iron! I’ve made this simple juice shot recipe as an easy, tasty way to increase your levels of this key mineral.
What’s In This Article?

What are the Symptoms of Anemia?
When the blood lacks the necessary amount of hemoglobin to carry oxygen to the cell’s tissues, the body can react in a myriad of ways. Some of the possible symptoms of this common blood disorder are (1):
- Headaches
- Shortness of breath
- Feelings of being tired or weak
- Being cold, particularly in the hands and feet
- Sallow, pale skin
- Chest pain
- Irregular heartbeat.
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Cold hands and feet
Is Beet Juice High In Iron?
Beet juice contains a notable amount of iron, plus a little Vitamin C which helps with iron absorption. Beets also contain significant amounts of vitamin B9, known as Folate or Folic Acid. Deficiency in this vital nutrient is the source of yet another type of anemia (megaloblastic), reinforcing the role beet juice can play in helping with this condition (2).

Blackstrap molasses for anemia is also key to bringing a good dose of iron to this recipe, with 1 tablespoon providing 20% of this red blood cell booster’s recommended daily value (RDA) (3). This iron also has a very high bioavailability in comparison to other sources, a whopping 85%! Be sure to use blackstrap, rather than light or dark, molasses as it has 2-3 times the iron levels as these other varieties.

It’s important to remember that juices are a great way to help the body balance itself out. But we have to get at the root cause of what might be causing the issue. Oftentimes, the root cause is a result of poor lifestyle behaviors. Juices are not a remedy for continued poor lifestyle habits.
Lifestyle habits have been very important to me and my success in this regard.
Obviously, I’m not a doctor and this isn’t medical advice, but these are the practices that I use for myself to avoid health issues: Eliminate all animal products, dairy, seafood, processed foods, fried foods, high fat, high protein foods.
Focus on fresh fruit, juices & raw living foods. Keep fat intake lower than 20g per day. Every. Day. No excuses. Keep protein low too. 40-50 g per day is plenty.
Don’t restrict calories. Go to bed 9 pm every night. Eliminate all alcohol and caffeine.
Drink 1 gal water per day.
Lower stress to minimum. Foster healthy relationships. Fresh air, sunshine, positive mindset, meditation and affirmations focused on
“I am: _______.” statements.
Example: “I am healthy. I have a fully functioning healthy body. I am vibrant.” Etc.
Get moderate to exercise 3-4 times per week. Cycling is awesome, throw in some weights if you can as well.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
Stay Juicy!

Anything for diabetes
Hello! Here’s a great recipe for diabetics (also great for calming):

Also, remember that juices are not a remedy for continued poor lifestyle habits. Sedentary lifestyles coupled with poor dietary intake (high fat, animal products, dairy products, seafood, fried food, processed food) all contribute to causing T2 diabetes and making T1 unmanageable.
When adding in juices, fruits and raw living foods, one can begin to reverse T2 and better manage T1.
Enjoy the juice recipes!
