High cholesterol (particularly LDL) can lead to several cardiovascular issues, including heart attack and stroke. What we eat and drink plays a major role in just how high our numbers can get. Drinking pomegranate juice for cholesterol may be one tasty way to get it back under control. Why not give it a try?

The Juice: Ruby Red Relief

Makes 20 fl oz

Try pomegranate juice for cholesterol as a natural way to help your body heal itself.

Ingredients

4 Pomegranates

1 Pint of Blueberries

Directions

Remove the seeds (arils) from the pomegranates.

Rinse the blueberries

Run the ingredients through your juicer and enjoy!!!

Juicer Test Kitchen Insider Tip: If you want to save time, rather than remove the pomegranate arils, use an electric peeler instead. This will remove the majority of the pith but will give you a slightly more astringent juice. Here’s a quick video of the peeler I used for this juice:

The Details: Lower LDL Oxidation

It’s believed that both pomegranates and blueberries act to lower the oxidation rate of LDL (bad) cholesterol. This oxidation is a key point in the heart-disease manifestation process, specifically plaque build-up on our artery walls (arteriosclerosis).

Pomegranates may also help to increase our good (HDL) cholesterol levels. What makes HDL good is its ability to remove the bad (LDL) cholesterol from our bloodstream, helping prevent plaque accumulation and subsequent cardiovascular disease.
